IBD Health Monitor Magazine
Happy World IBD Day!
There is no better time than today to show you, personally, “I am what IBD looks like.” This article was the first time I came out publicly sharing my very intimate story with ulcerative colitis.
This diagnosis came at a time in life that was extremely difficult to navigate. I was a new mom, and before giving birth, I was thought to be your typical healthy 20-something.
Over 2 years ago, I found Instagram as a tool to connect with others just like me. Young women understanding their new normal - whatever that may be, with an IBD diagnosis. And that’s how Health Monitor found me! Yes, through Instagram!
Like so many others who have been diagnosed and have found relief and some normalcy back in their life, I can relate to the point that IBD has helped shape me into the person I am today. And she is a woman who loves her life and appreciates every single day of good health.
Please enjoy reading through the article and gaining some insight to what has really helped me get to this happy place!
PS. The road to remission is a windy and bumpy road. It does not come without trials and tribulations. Since this article has been written, I have continued to learn more and more about my body and have been able to pivot as new developments occur.
